My laptop keyboard won't type sometimes?

I have to restart my laptop whenever it stops typing for it to let me type again. It used to have this problem months ago but i found the solution was to press both the control buttons then it would let me type again. Well this time whenever i press them both it still doesn't work.Please Help me! (I just had to restart my laptop so it would let me type again) it isn't touch screen

Also it first started back doing this after the thing that pop ups about holding the shift key for too long popped up then it started back making it to where i have to restart my laptop for it to get back to working.
